VR broadcast and film under spotlight at NAB Show 2016

NAB Show, which is set to take place in Las Vegas on April 16-21, has thrown its weight behind the VR with a pavilion dedicated to VR companies and a half-day of conference sessions on various aspects of VR for broadcast and filmmaking.

The VR and AR pavilion, located in the North Hall, will consist of about 18-20 companies and will allow visitors a chance to get their hands on some of the latest technology, from VR cameras to headsets and samples of the latest content.

“This new medium is impacting all aspects of filmmaking, storytelling, cameras, lighting, sound, production, special effects (VFX), editing, distribution, coding and consumption,” the organiser of NAB Show stated. “The AR VR Pavilion features the leading content producers and tech companies building the future and changing the way we consume information.”

Meanwhile, the conference sessions on April 20 will include discussion of key concepts and lessons learned regarding VR production. Moreover, “hands-on practitioners” will discuss the technical and business aspects of producing content.

The Live Streaming Virtual Reality session, moderated by Chris Blandy, EVP, technology solutions at Fox Networks Group, will see executives including Michael Davies, senior VP of field and technical operations, Jason Farkas, executive producer at CNN, and Juan Santillan, CEO and co-founder Vantage.TV, share their insights.
