Osmium taps into VR demand in UAE
Osmium Private Ltd, a producer of VR content, sees huge potential in the Middle East and hopes to use its presence at GITEX Technology Week in the UAE to help gain business in the Middle East region, the company’s CEO, Sathira Ranaweera, told VR Film Pro.
The company, which is based in Sri Lanka and Australia, recently created a virtual reality tour for the Islamic Museum of Australia in Melbourne. The tour, which allows participants to explore the museum and experience its top exhibits in VR, has already won plaudits, winning the National Best Quality software award for Sri Lanka earlier this year.
“This is our first time at GITEX and we are keen to gain an understanding of the Middle East market, showcase what we have done and make some noise,” Ranaweera said.
Osmium creates its VR experiences with the Unity game engine, and Ranaweera stressed that the company’s VR content is compatible across the main VR platforms. “We support HTC Vive, Samsung Gear and Google Daydream,” Ranaweera said.
