Virtual Reality filmmaking will come under the spotlight during a special panel session at Dubai International Film Festival tomorrow.

The session, which will be held at the DFM Forum section of DIFF on December 14, will help to bring regional filmmakers up to speed on the evolving landscape of cinema and how VR technology is being used to create truly immersive films.

The panelists, all experts in their field, will share insights ranging from storyboarding to post production and distribution for Virtual Reality films.

Jon Starck, head of research at the Foundry, the creator of Nuke – a production software well known in Hollywood – will be present. He will speak on how Nuke is being used to create 360 degree video content for VR films.

Filmmaker Elia Petridis, director of The Man Who Shook the Hand of Vicente Fernandez, will also offer his insights on Virtual Reality from a filmmaker’s point of view.

Noted personalities in VR; Julie Young of the Emblematic Group, Haley Pappas, head of films at RYOT and Phillipe Bertrand will offer an international perspective to attendees at the forum.

The Virtually Real panel will be hosted and moderated by VR filmmaker and writer, Clyde DeSouza.
